with Mary Leikvold
Thursdays: January 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18; 7–9pm CST

Gain new insight into your vision and practice by transforming old, unfinished prints and abandoned editions into new work. In conversation and collaboration with other makers, explore printmaking and book arts techniques, delve into materials, and experiment with new ideas and ways of working. Techniques covered in this virtual workshop include relief printing, monotypes, chine collé, stencils, and color mixing. Paper manipulation, including cutting, dyeing, tearing, weaving, and sewing will also be explored. Book structures such as accordion, maze, and pamphlet bindings will be demonstrated and used throughout the workshop as vehicles to contain, display, and incorporate prints.

For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.

What you'll need to participate: For this highly participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date. You are responsible for sourcing your own supplies from the materials list. Teaching artists will answer questions about the materials list in advance of the workshop.

Please note: Registration closes 1/20 at midnight (CST).
