Monotypes on Paper and Fabric

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday February 4

5:30 PM  –  7:30 PM

with Michelle Lee Lagerroos & Kirsten Olson
Thursdays: February 4, 11, 18; 5:30–7:30pm CST

Monotypes are one part printmaking, one part play–and they can be done at home without a press! The result is a set of prints that are fun, freeing, and truly unique. In this virtual workshop, participants will learn how to use gel-plate printing tools and everyday household materials to print one-of-a-kind prints, cards, quilt squares, and tea towels. Topics covered include setting up a printing space, different types of monotypes (trace, additive, subtractive, masking, and methods like pochoir), how to make texture tools, and the differences between printing on paper and fabric. Cleaning and storage tips for tools will ensure that you are set up to print monotypes at home again and again and again!

All skill levels welcome!

What you'll need to participate: For this participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a microphone, if possible. A camera is optional.
