Mechanical Cards: Holiday Edition (section A, adults)

with Shawn Sheehy
Thursday, November 19; 4:30–6:30pm CST

Stir a little whimsy into your holiday by creating a festive and gift-worthy set of movable, mechanical cards. Each card features a traditional movable structure that's been adapted to accommodate the heaviness of cereal box chipboard. You'll build a simple wheel, a simple pull tab, and a wheel/pull tab combination. All you'll need—aside from the cereal boxes—is scrap paper, glue, some simple tools, and your imagination! Note: This workshop is also being offered on Saturday 11/28 when youth ages 11–17 are welcome to register with a registered adult.

$35/participant
$15 for BIPOC participants
*We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.

What you'll need to participate: For this highly participatory virtual workshop we recommend you join on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date. You are responsible for sourcing your own supplies from the materials list. Teaching artists will answer questions about the materials list in advance of the workshop.

Please note: Registration closes 11/11 at midnight.
