Family Workshop: Let's Make Puppets!

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday February 6

1:00 PM  –  2:30 PM

with Michelle Lee Lagerroos & Kirsten Olson
Saturday, February 6; 1–2:30pm CST
For families with children ages 6 and up

The whole family will go head over heels for this playful paper craft! Start with simple shapes, use what you have around the house to add detail, then cut and assemble your one-of-a-kind creations. Articulated paper puppets are perfect for storytelling props, stop-motion animation, valentines, and more! This workshop accommodates a range of developmental levels so that adults and children may choose to work together or side-by-side.

$38 per family
$18 per BIPOC family
*We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.

What you'll need to participate: For this participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a microphone, if possible. A camera is optional. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date. You are responsible for sourcing your own supplies from the materials list. Teaching artists will answer questions about the materials list in advance of the workshop.

Please note: Registration closes 1/31 at midnight (CST).
