Explore several types of paper decorating techniques including under-painting, stamping, and paste patterning. Learn how to combine these varied decorative methods to the greatest effect as they create truly unique papers. In the early 1980s, renewed interest in paste papers emerged as part of a renaissance in arts of decorative paper patterning. Paste and other decorative papers are most commonly used for traditional crafts such as bookbinding as well as in calligraphy, printmaking, scrap-booking, collage, rubber stamping, and origami. Participants are invited to bring previously marbled papers to add a paste paper layer which creates outstanding results.

Regina and Dan St. John are Chena River Marblers. They specialize in book edge-marbling, miniature marbling, custom marbled papers, and teaching marbling workshops around the country. Deeply influenced by historic marbling traditions all over the world, Chena River Marblers’ work encompasses much of the past while incorporating a twenty-first century twist to pattern, color, and technique.
