Centering the Self with Suminagashi

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday March 10

7:00 PM  –  9:00 PM

with Anna Haglin
Wednesday, March 10; 7-9pm CT

Suminagashi, the Japanese art of marbling, translates to “floating ink.” It creates hypnotic patterns that resemble wood grain or ripples in a pond. In this virtual workshop, explore different ways to manipulate these patterns and transfer them to the surface of Japanese paper. The resulting marbled paper can be used decoratively or as an art piece in itself. As winter comes to a close, suminagashi highlights the fluidity of cycles and sparks renewal through creativity.

All skill levels welcome!
Certificate: 2 hours, Category D

*We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts.
